Reflections on the First Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary (Annunciation)

Holiness does not consist of doing great things for God if it is not sanctioned by His will. All the saints sought God's will, lived in God's will and did His will. Who better desired and did God's will than the Virgin Blessed Mary! Her whole life could be summarized in her answer to God's will through Angel Gabriel: "Let is be done to me according to your word." That is her greatness, her holiness, and the essence of her being.

How often do we pray the Our Father and fail to reflect on that phrase, "thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven!" Where is the Kingdom of heaven if not within you since the day of your baptism! Wherever God is, there is His kingdom. How often do you go within yourself and commune with God within you? How deep is your interior life? Do you permit God and His kingdom to manifest His will in you, for you and through you?

As we ponder the joyful mystery of the Annunciation, let us ask Mama Mary to teach us how to dispose ourselves to God's will and to live in His divine will.

Lord Jesus, may your will be done on me as it was done on your beautiful Mother, Mary. Amen
